Most people do this. They upload PDFs, old help docs, random Notion pages, and think the AI will figure it out.

It won't.

What actually happens: the bot gives outdated answers, contradicts itself across different questions, and confidently tells customers things that haven't been true since your last product update.

The fix: Start with 10-15 high-quality answers to your most common questions. Test them. Make sure they're current. Then expand. Quality beats quantity every single time.

You Have No Human Handoff Strategy

The fix: Write bot responses the way you'd actually talk to a customer. Short sentences. Natural language. No corporate jargon. Test every response by reading it out loud. If it sounds weird, rewrite it.

You can configure personality in most platforms. Use it. A chatbot that sounds human gets better engagement, fewer drop-offs, and way less "is this a real person?" confusion.

Most chatbot failures aren't technical. They're strategic. People buy the tool, flip it on, and assume it'll just work.
